Badgers and Hedgehogs
Yesterday we held a singing workshop for children from local schools.
The event was the brainchild of our organist and choirmaster Lloyd Barnett who taught the children two choral pieces: Benjamin Britten’s “Old Abram Brown” and a lively wildlife-themed piece entitled “Badgers and Hedgehogs”.
Children enjoyed a fun and varied afternoon, learning clapping rhythms and competing in a drawing competition following the animal theme.
It was well-attended by children from a wide range of local schools. Revd Margaret Marshall presented a book to Eynesbury CE Primary School pupils, the largest group present. The young choristers treated their parents to a performance after the workshop, and despite some stage-fright they sang their socks off.
We will be holding a second singing workshop in April next year, in preparation for the School’s Concert at the Ascensiontide Music Festival in May. It will feature the companion piece to “Badgers and Hedgehogs”, entitled “Butterflies and Moths”.
