St Mary's School
Our school is a Church of England Aided Primary School with a nursery class. Children enter the nursery at the beginning of the school year in which they are four. Children enter the main school at the start of the year they will be five. We welcome visits from parents of prospective pupils for either nursery or school.
St Mary’s School is a Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School. The Governors, staff and parents produced the following statement of purpose and aims to reflect the nature of St Mary’s School.
Statement of purpose
- St Mary’s School is a community based on Christian Values.
- St Mary’s School is distinguished by the support of all its staff for its Christian foundation.
- St Mary’s School is distinguished by the importance it places on prayer and worship at the centre of its daily life.
- St Mary’s School strives to achieve a a high quality of care to all its members so that each person develops their full potential.
- St Mary’s School would like to cooperate actively with other Church Schools, as part of the ‘diocesan family’.
Aims of the School
- To educate pupils intellectually, socially, morally, aesthetically, physically and spiritually with a school firmly based on Christian principles and values.
- To encourage children to achieve high standards in all aspects of school life.
- To provide equal opportunities within a broad and balanced curriculum.
- To enable every child to achieve their full potential through a broad, balanced, interesting curriculum, including the requirements of the National Curriculum and life skills.
- To encourage care and respect for others and toe encourage pupils to take responsibility for themselves and their behaviour.
- To develop a cooperative working relationship between all staff, governors and parents.
- To develop a partnership with St Mary’s Church and links with other local churches.
- To encourage children to feel part of the local and wider community and contribute to the life of it.
- To make appropriate use of the knowledge and expertise of human resources within the school and the wider community.
- To provide and maintain an attractive, safe, stimulating environment including a high standard of display throughout the school
